Family, Faith and Fun: If you don’t want Easter to End!
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. -Hebrews 4:12
Adopting the attitude that Easter is over just doesn’t feel right when I wake up on that Monday morning after our Resurrection Sunday celebration.
The thirty-first of March may have come and gone, but the reality of Easter lingers on.
After all, Easter is really more of a beginning than an end.
It’s the beginning of new life in Christ, the beginning of salvation by faith in Jesus, the beginning of living out from under the shadow of death’s sting. Simply put, the empty tomb changes EVERYTHING.
I want to move beyond our standard post-Easter conversations about how eating the entire chocolate bunny and every piece of candy tucked in those plastic eggs can lead to tooth decay. And I want to begin talking about why our life is different because we celebrate a Savior who conquered death and decay on when He rose from the grave on Easter morning.
With that, I invited the kids to make their ugly cardboard crosses beautiful so we could be reminded of how Easter changed everything- even the horrible cross.
We had a blast with this craft. It was a bit messy, but it cleaned up super easily, and it ended up being a fun new way to paint. (Thanks again to Jenae for the creative inspiration!)
Once the crosses were covered, we used craft sticks to shave down the heaps of shaving cream.
Alecia,
Hannah’s line: “If you aren’t one of Jesus’ friends, the cross is still just an ugly old killing thing. But if you do know JESUS and you are His friend, then the cross is really an amazing gift.” –really sums it up doesn’t it?!
Thanks for letting your heart slip in to feeling life with me on my post “Growing Daughters in Twilight,” and for savoring your kids too!
