Scooter story- small stuff
 
We were in the middle of an intense afternoon of road  races… the track mapped out with sidewalk chalk all the way across our long narrow drive…all the kids lined up with their scooters adorned with streamers and balloons… each one vying for bragging rights… I held up an orange flag and blew the starting whistle… the race was on…
 
wheels were squeaking and kids were squealing and then the whole event spiraled into chaos… before I knew what had happened, two of my five kids were tangled on the ground, their legs flailing and the happy squeals had turned to frustrated cries. ….. 
 
Hurried across the grass to the scene of the wipe out and started kissing boo boos and wiping off bloody knees and cement burned elbows.
 
Once bandaids had been applied and the sadness subdued, discovered Hannah’s scooter in pieces.
 
…. what happened? 
 
I was just missing a little screw or something and my whole scooter just fell apart!…..
 
You were missing a piece before we Even started? 
 
Yeah, but I didn’t think it would matter that much…
 
But I guess that small thing is a big deal after all! 
 
Hannah’s bloody knees have long since healed but I’ve not forgotten our scooter lesson on the driveway that day..
it’s the small things that impact the way we run the race. 
 
The Apostle Paul often refers to life as a race… he encourages us to  refers to our life here on this earth as a race… He reminds us that Jesus is our prize and
