Happy Birthday, Elizabeth Grace

Ten years ago today, we welcomed Elizabeth Grace into our family. A splash of joy from the very start, she sprinkles our home every day with laughter, creativity, and hope. I wrote this poem for her when she was just 6 weeks old and I still marvel that God knew exactly what our family needed when He crafted our firstborn daughter.
Elizabeth Grace
Long before I held you or gazed upon your face,
You were known by God and cradled in His grace.
When you were just a vision, a dream inside of me,
God already knew you would join our family.
He knew you’d have two tiny hands to wave and clap with glee,
And a nose made just for wrinkling as you giggle happily.
He knew you’d have a sparkling smile to flash at your big brother
And a soul that harbors your own dreams, unlike any other.
He knew you’d have a laugh that would ring out loud and clear,
And two soft arms for hugging the people you hold dear.
He knew you’d have two legs that would dance and jump and play,
And a heart filled up with love that you’d gladly give away.
He knew you’d have a mind graced with grand imagination
And a life that is a masterpiece of His own creation.
And when the Lord surrendered you
so graciously to me,
so graciously to me,
He knew you’d have a mother’s love for all eternity.
Today’s Overflow: “You brought me safely from my mother’s womb and led me to trust you at my mother’s breast. I was thrust into your arms at birth. You have been my God from the moment I was born.” Psalm 22:9010
Happy birthday to your sweet girl! Can’t believe how big she is. The first time I saw her she was toddling around at Holmes Lake as a 1 year old! Amazing!!!
