Family, Faith, and Fun Fridays: Broken To Beautiful
Welcome to Family Faith and Fun Fridays! As the week winds down and I anticipate more family time over the weekend, I often ask God for one good idea that will enable me to bring the Word to life and bring our family together. Usually, the activity overflows out of something the Lord has been teaching me through His Word during the week. I’d like to invite you to join me and my family in the adventure. Sometimes I’ll post things we’ve tried; other times I’ll post an idea in the works. If you’ve got thoughts to add or suggestions on how to adapt or improve the activity, please don’t hesitate to comment. Enjoy!
Broken to Beautiful
Sometimes, the best teachable moments are initiated by my own children. Over spring break, I walked by the craft room and noticed that Lizzy had rallied her little siblings’ help and together, my four youngest were digging through our huge box of crayons. One by one, they were excavating the broken pieces and placing the crayon stubs in a jar.
A few days later, I stumbled on the same crew working on the crayon-project again. Only this time, they were peeling the paper off of each broken crayon. Now the jar held naked and broken crayon pieces. Finally, on the last day of break, Lizzy asked me if she could use some muffin liners and the muffin tins. I watched as she instructed her little brother and sisters to pick out their favorite colors from the crayon stub collection and to place the broken crayolas in a muffin cup.
