Easter Without End

|
I spotted it as dawn stretched luminous fingers across the backyard this morning: a streak of blue in the tall green grass.  At first I thought the blaze was a blue jay seeking its morning meal, yet it remained unmoved as the first wave of diners perched on the birdfeeder nearby. Then, the world brightened with the sun’s steady rise and I realized my mistake. The blue blob wasn’t a breakfast guest. It was a remnant of yesterday’s celebration:  a solitary Easter egg still waiting to be discovered.
For a moment, I wondered how my children had missed the simple treasure as they’d scurried about the lawn during yesterday’s egg hunt.
Amidst the giggles and the shouts, the skips and the jumps, the brightly colored treasure had gone unnoticed. Yet today it nearly glowed in the radiant hues of morning.

The baskets may be packed away, the dresses and bonnets re-hung in the closet; but the solitary cry of blue in my backyard reminds me that EASTER has no end.  Because of YESTERDAY’S empty tomb, I can live life to the full TODAY (and TOMORROW and FOREVER).

Hallelujah! Jesus is ALIVE!
