Tuesday’s Tips: The Perfect Spring Snack

| |
Have you ever wished you had a treasure trove of great ideas for those days when motherhood feels draining and mundane?

Ever longed for just one tried and true tip that has actually been used successfully by REAL MOMS with REAL KIDS?
Me, too!

That’s why I’ve created Tuesday’s Tips a weekly post designed to reduce frustration and multiply inspiration in the wacky and wearisome trenches of

motherhood.

Of course, a good idea is meant to be shared. So don’t keep those jewels for yourself!   If you discover something that makes motherhood a little easier, a little more exciting, or a bit more meaningful, please let me know. (Just leave a comment after this post or email me at rbruxvoort@iowatelecom.net).  I’d love to feature your idea on an upcoming Tuesday.

Got Worms?

Joshua headed out to preschool with dirt in his hands today. Edible dirt, that is!

We’ve clocked a decade of snack days at preschool and still this silly little treat never grows old. Every child of mine has had to bring dirt cups at least once to “trick my friends.”

For our resident farmer bringing worms to school was almost as cool as digging for creepy crawlies in the backyard. Almost.

If you’re in the mood to celebrate the muddy glories of spring, why not toss together a few dirt cups and dig in.

Here’s the simple recipe from cooks.com

JELLO PUDDING DIRT CUPS
2 c. cold milk
1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
8 oz. Cool Whip
16 oz. oreos, crushed
8 to 10 clear cups, goblets, etc.
Mix pudding into milk until well blended. Let sit for 5 minutes. Stir in Cool Whip and 1/2 crushed cookies. Place 1 teaspoon cookies into cup. Fill 3/4 full with pudding. Top with remaining cookies. Refrigerate one hour. Garnish with gummy worms, frogs, candy flowers, or chopped nuts.
